One day in early 2025 my wife decided our Great Dane Baxter had sufficiently ruined our barstools that we should buy new ones.  Not wanting to spend a lot of money on new barstools I convinced her to let me take a shot at re-covering them myself.  The new seat covers came out way better than expected and I discovered that I really enjoyed the process.

After making a few more creations with the 1968-ish Kenmore sewing machine I picked up off marketplace to make the covers, I decided to make something I could use daily at work.  Being in the oil and gas industry, we use tally books every day for taking notes as we go about our work.  I got to work designing a tally book cover that would be super durable but also look and feel really premium.  After a couple of months of prototyping and testing in the field, I had what has become the JBD Tally Book I sell today! 

It's 2026 now and after just 6 months of being an actual business I've shipped almost 200 of the JBD Tally Book to customers all over the Gulf Coast!  And it's not just for the oilfield...my biggest customers are every day businesses looking for a premium gift for their top customers!  And with my laser engraving capabilities I'm able to produce custom artwork and logos to match their branding!

I make all of my products here in the USA and that will never change.  And while it's extremely difficult to build with only parts and hides from the USA, I make every effort to do so.  Some materials are only available from overseas tanneries and are really excellent!  But I source them from USA based suppliers, and whenever possible, even the hardware I use is made in the USA.

This year I'm tooling up to produce 2 wallet designs and a heavy-duty belt made for work!  I have other products in development, and I'm looking forward to making more bespoke, useful items for my customers I appreciate so much!

So, thanks to my beautiful wife, and some divine inspiration in discovering a hidden talent and acquiring equipment, JB Designs USA LLC was born!  God has opened doors and provided opportunities that in January of 2025...I had no idea existed.  And I'm supremely grateful for this new adventure He has provided.
